MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Please read the following carefully before completing the application form:

All relevant portions of this application form must be completed accurately.

This application must be accompanied by all relevant supporting documents.

No person shall be automatically entitled to be a Member, and the right to membership rests solely with the Executive Committee.

The decision of the Executive Committee to admit an applicant to membership shall be final. The Executive Committee shall not be obliged to give reasons for their decision to refuse membership.

Except for Life Members, membership endures for one year only, but shall be extended every year provided the member pays the relevant membership fee and provides any other documents that the Executive Committee may require to confirm that the requirements of the particular category of membership have been fulfilled.

The Executive Committee has the right to request further information that may be reasonably necessary to consider an application.

The outcome of applications will be communicated at the earliest possible opportunity. Joining fees and membership fees will be refunded should an application be unsuccessful.

 

Please note that we are obliged to notify SAPS, the relevant nature conservation department/s
and fellow industry bodies in the event of your membership being terminated as a result of
disciplinary procedures.

MEMBERSHIP PACKAGES

Full Membership may be granted to any person who is a licensed professional hunter or hunting outfitter in the Republic of South Africa and whose source of income is, either in part or in full, legal professional hunting or outfitting activities on the continent of Africa. Full members shall be entitled to vote at annual general meetings and receive firearm endorsements for professional hunting from the Association as provided by section 16A of the Firearms Control Act, Act 60 of 2000, provided it is accredited to do so.

The following membership fees will apply for the 2025 calendar year:

  1. Once-off joining fee: R350

Membership Fees:

  • 2025 fee:  R2,780 (Including EVAC-911 cover)

Associate Membership A person who does not qualify for Full Membership but is connected with the professional hunting industry and who wishes to concern himself with the promotion of the Association and its best interests. Associate members shall not be entitled to vote at general meetings.

The following membership fees will apply for the 2025 calendar year:

  1. Once-off joining fee: R350

Membership Fees:

  • 2025 fee R1660.00

International Membership Any person who is not a licensed professional hunter or outfitter and who is not a South African citizen but who wish to contribute to the Association and its best interests and development. International members shall not be entitled to vote at general meetings.

The following membership fees will apply for the 2025 calendar year:

  1. Once-off joining fee: R350

Membership Fees:

  • 2025 fee R3780.00

Life Membership may be granted to applicants seeking to remain Members in perpetuity and such members must be Full or Associate Members. Life Membership may only be awarded to the applicant upon full payment of the Life Membership tariff by the applicant to the Association, which tariff will be prescribed and may be amended from time to time by the Executive Committee and will only be granted upon approval of the Executive Committee at its sole discretion.

The following membership fees will apply for the 2025 calendar year:

Membership Fees:

  • Life Member R25,000

Field Membership Any South African person who is not a licensed professional hunter or hunting outfitter but who is endorsed and recommended to the Executive Committee by a Full Member to be fit for such membership. Field members shall not be entitled to vote at general meetings.

The following membership fees will apply for the 2025 calendar year:

  1. Once-off joining fee: R350

Membership Fees:

  • 2025 fee R840.00 (INCLUDING EVAC 911 COVER)

CUSTODIANS SECTION 16A

We would like to remind Custodians members that our Association is accredited by the Central Firearms Registry to award Professional Hunter Status to members who are in possession of a valid provincial Professional Hunters Permit.

– Custodians is accredited in terms of the Firearms Control Act to award Professional Hunter Status to members in good standing and in possession of a valid and current provincial Nature Conservation Professional Hunters’ Licence/Permit.
– Custodians’ Professional Hunter Status will allow a Custodians member in good standing, to apply for firearm licences for professional hunting purposes.
– The Firearms Control Act defines a professional hunter as any person who supervises, escorts, offers to, or agrees to supervise or escort a client, for reward in connection with the hunting of a wild or exotic animal and who is authorised to do so in terms of any applicable provincial law.

Professional Hunting RPL Process

The RPL Process to obtain the Qualification: SAQA ID: 58930 Professional Hunting

Please follow the following steps to ensure that you submit the correct documentation.

Phase A: Learner Registration

  • Complete the Learner Registration Document. This document must please be saved in PDF format.
  • Please complete all three pages of the Learner Registration Document.
  • Please sign the Learner Signature Document (page 3) in a black pen.

The following documentation needs to be submitted electronically together with your Learner Registration Document:

  • Documents scanned in PDF format or Hard Copy:
    • Certified Copy of your ID
      • ID document can either be a Green ID Book or Smart ID Card (please ensure that both sides – front and back is needed of the Smart ID Card).
    • Certified Copy of your Highest School Qualification
      • National Senior Certificate (Matric Certificate)
      • OR
      • Highest Standard / Grade completed in High School
      • OR
      • SAPS Affidavit / Sworn Statement of School, Town, Year and Achievement.
  • Additional documents to submit together with the above Learner Registration documents:
    • PH Certificate from Hunting School.
    • Provincial Professional Hunter Registration / Licence.
